AVAAZ

An action to help end oceanic clear-cuts

Bringing people-powered politics to decision-making worldwide.

In recognition of the outstanding work Avaaz is doing in bringing the democratic process to governments worldwide, APE has given a discretionary grant to the organisation. Avaaz empowers millions of people from all walks of life to take action on pressing global, regional and national issues, from corruption and poverty to conflict and climate change.

The Avaaz community campaigns in 14 languages, served by a core team on 4 continents and thousands of volunteers. Avaas enables people everywhere to take action via petitions, media campaigns and direct actions, emailing, calling and lobbying governments, and organizing "offline" protests and events -- to ensure that the views and values of the world's people inform the decisions that affect us all.

Avaaz has over 10 million members in 193 countries worldwide and is currently running campaigns to support the people of Tibet; against the adoption of cluster bombs; actions to help save the Amazon and many, many more.
