BRISTOL RISING TIDE

With so many vested interests in maintaining the status quo, Bristol Rising Tide believe we cannot rely on government or industry to tackle the issues of climate change

If we cannot rely on the ‘establishment’ to address the root causes of climate change, then we must do it ourselves. So say the grassroots campaigning group Bristol Rising Tide, and so they do, as well. They are working with ordinary citizens and communities to use direct action and the media to raise awareness of local issues that affect their quality of life.

Examples in the Bristol area that have a direct connection to climate change are the expansion of Bristol International Airport and Australian coal being imported into Britain via Avonmouth docks. Bristol Rising Tide have found that by working together on shared goals, people have been empowered to rise up and be heard, and to tackle those with vested interests head on.
