It seeks to raise awareness locally of the serious threat of human-induced climate change and its effects worldwide and to encourage people to make environmentally-friendly lifestyle changes.
The Scarborough C.A.N. Info Shop will be a permanent informal indoor space in the town centre to promote climate issues and campaigns. The public will be able to browse round the shop’s displays, pick up leaflets on climate change, low carbon lifestyles, allotments, home insulation firms and forthcoming events and actions. People will be able to buy or borrow books and DVDs and hire climate friendly equipment. The shop will also be used for workshops, seminars, film nights, fundraising and social events.
