ARTISTS PROJECT EARTH – SPECIAL AWARD 2009

APE Special AwardAPE SPECIAL AWARD 2009 - To celebrate the release of APE’s third album, ‘Rhythms Del Mundo – Classics’ we will award $100,000 to a single project judged most likely to make a significant impact in the struggle to prevent dangerous climate change. This one-off Special Award replaces our usual funding procedure. To apply for the Special Award click here.

This Award is intended to fully-fund a project, or to provide a substantial percentage of funding to ensure that a project is financially viable.

APE Trustees and Advisors are looking for projects that will make a practical and measurable difference to climate change.

The Award is open to any organisation in any country for projects related to the mitigation of climate change.

You may be working in the arts, education, policy, community organisation, energy and engineering, ‘Transition’ initiatives, adaptation and conservation or something quite different.

The winner of the APE SPECIAL AWARD will be announced at the Resurgence ‘Resilience and Climate Change Conference’ in London on October 3rd 2009. You will also be informed by email.

PLEASE NOTE:

  • APE may need to contact you for further detailed information about your project, or clarification of certain elements of your application.
  • The deadline for applications is 31st August 2009. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

Who can Apply?

Applications are welcomed from organisations working:

  • To prevent the causes of climate change
  • To defend communities and ecosystems against the impacts of climate change

These are broad topics and may include, among other things, projects that:

  • create awareness of the causes, impacts and solutions to climate change
  • create political and social awareness of the need for rapid change and preparation
  • lead to the adoption of low carbon technologies and lifestyles
  • prepare vulnerable communities and ecosystems for climate impacts
  • protect ecosystems at risk from climate change

Rules for Applications

  • We regret that we cannot accept applications from individuals unless they are working in close partnership with a recognised and accountable organisation.
  • We request that organisations only submit one application per funding round.
  • Projects selected to receive funding will be asked to provide a follow up report. Projects will not be be put forward for further rounds of funding if this report is not received by us.

APE requires that ALL funded projects return a Report Form.

What Sort of Projects Are We Looking For?

APE evaluates projects on many criteria including:

  • originality and ambition
  • the track record of the applicant
  • the likelihood that the project will produce long lasting social or political change
  • the degree to which APE funding will make a substantial difference to the project, will strengthen the applicant organisation or will enable future work
