GREEN SCREEN

The One Planet Festival in Lancaster

The ‘Green Screen’, a series of climate change related films, will be screened at the Dukes Cinema in Lancaster, as part of the city’s One Planet Festival from 9 – 12 October 2008. The cinema will host a range of films such as How Cuba Survived Peak Oil to The End of Suburbia. The films will be complemented with talks, panel discussions and workshops that will offer a means of accessing information on climate change including a Youth Climate Change Workshop hosted by the Dukes Youth Arts Centre.

The local Lancaster green group Bicycology will give talks and workshops on sustainable living and transport. There will be bicycle powered music concerts at various venues and a Sustainability Expo, which will provide an opportunity to buy local produce and find out about the latest renewable energy technologies. George Marshall will put on his Carbon Detox show and Steve Connor, CEO of Creative Concern will explore campaigns and actions that have successfully shifted peoples' behaviour toward sustainable lifestyles.
