Herbie Girardet B.Sc. Econ. (L.S.E.) is an environmental consultant, writer and filmmaker. A recipient of a UN 'Global 500 Award for Outstanding Environmental Achievements', the main focus of his work is the urgent need to create a sustainable relationship between People and Planet. Since the 1980s he has written extensively in the national and international press. He frequently lectures to diverse audiences in the UK and at conferences around the world.

  • 1997 - 1999: Deadline 2000, 28 three-minute TV films on environment and the new millennium, C4; 4 films were shown every 100 days until June 1999 (producer)
  • 1996: Urban Best Practices, film for UN Habitat II, Istanbul, WTN, London (producer)
  • 1994: Metropolis, documentary on London's metabolism, C4, Uden Associates (producer)
  • 1988-89: Halting the Fires, on the impacts on the Amazon Forest and initiatives to reverse the destruction, C4, Nexus Productions, London; several international prizes (writer/ producer)
