NATIONAL CLIMATE MARCH

Part of a global day of action on climate change

As in previous years the CCC will coordinate a Global Day of Action on Climate to be held during the UN Climate Talks on 6th December 2008. As a central part of this, they will organise the annual National Climate March in London the biggest UK mobilisation on climate.

The aim is to push world leaders to take urgent action to minimise dangerous climate change at the very time these decisions are being made, whilst simultaneously applying pressure on the UK government. It will be the culmination of a year’s work, publicising and promoting the march at relevant meetings, festivals and through affiliated organisations. A public meeting in November will promote the demonstration, and adverts and press releases to national and local media will be produced. The plan is to make this year’s National Climate March the biggest and most influential yet.

"We were delighted to receive APE's grant. It's just what we need to build the next National Climate March - the UK's biggest mobilisation on climate - on December 6th 2008 to be bigger than ever. The march will take the campaigns we have been building through the year on Heathrow expansion, the coal fired power station at Kingsnorth and Agrofuels onto the streets of London, and will be the UK component of our international campaign involving more than 70 countries in a Global Day of Action."
