SUSTAINABLE CHARLBURY

Sustainable Charlbury (SusCha) mission is ‘To inspire, encourage and empower groups and individuals within the community to reduce carbon emissions’.

The project seeks to establish a network of street champions who can influence and support their neighbours and friends to make real changes to their lives. 250 households will be targeted to improve their energy efficiency. A community market garden will be set up to provide a space for adults and children to learn gardening skills and to understand the seasonality of food supply. Produce will be available through the local Good Food Shop and through the expansion of the seasonal produce swapping group ‘sharecroppers’. A survey will also be carried out on how people travel to Charlbury train station from outlying villages as well as local car use in order to facilitate a car sharing scheme.
