In a warming world, accurate and sustained coverage of the root causes of climate change, will help us to keep our cool features a daily bilingual news service, regular columns from some of China’s most distinguished environmental journalists and a range of non-Chinese authors writing in-depth on issues that range from food security to urbanisation and biodiversity. Climate change is certain to be the most urgent topic of the decades ahead, and China will be at the centre of the debate, as China fast overtakes the US as the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide. As such, the Chinese people’s relationship with their government – and the country’s relationship with the rest of the world – becomes paramount; ultimately, it may determine if the world can develop sustainably.

Cooler living is a continuing project which started in May 2007. It aims to help people to take action by disseminating accurate and sustained coverage on climate change and China’s related environmental crisis. The project will broadcast a series of fully subtitled video podcasts, each one highlighting a serious ecological issue in China with an emphasis on solutions. The project’s fully bilingual forum will continue as a unique space to publish lively articles and stimulate debates on climate change that will reach a new generation of readers in China, the US and the rest of the world.

“We are delighted to announce that thanks to APE’s continuing support, cooler living will continue for another year. We are also expanding of our activities on the ground in China.
