Continuing to spread Greenie’s message throughout schools and communities in the Gambia
Over the last 8 months 7,000 children and their communities in Gambia have learned about more responsible environmental behaviour through our Greenie book, which was distributed in 65 nursery schools. The first phase of this programme was co-funded by Artists Project Earth. Click here for more details of the book and initial campaign.
This additional funding from APE is for a wider outreach programme that reinforces the “best green practice” messages of the original Greenie book, utilizing a multi media approach.
Many members of the community interviewed throughout our evaluation process agreed with us that this initiative should be supported by mass media campaigns to reach the grass roots levels of society. By involving all sectors of society (children, parents, teachers, experts and the audience) in our TV and radio panel discussions and phone-in programmes, we have created shows, based around the Greenie message, that are interactive, fun and educational and reach and benefit wide tracts of the local communities.
