Eco-anthem winners announcement!

To celebrate the winners of eco‑anthem competition, we’re kicking off the first release in our Earth Songs collection: “The Earth is Calling” by Baque Luar.

Earth Songs is a powerful collection of singles that celebrate the standout music from the eco-anthem competition, which invited musicians from around the world to compose songs that honour and protect Earth. Our winning tracks will be released weekly, starting from today (July 25). In order to stay informed about further releases, please check out our eco-anthem page.

Kicking off with Baque Luar’s new release

We begin by celebrating Baque Luar, a London‑based collective of female and non‑binary vocalists and percussionists. Their music blends Brazilian and Afro‑Brazilian roots traditions, creating bold, rhythmic soundscapes grounded in sisterhood and unapologetic sound. We believe their strength and uplifting spirit are exactly what the climate movement needs in these challenging times.

The Earth is Calling” is now available on all streaming platforms! Listen, share, and support by purchasing. All royalties will be split between Artists Project Earth and the artists themselves to continue supporting them beyond the competition.

Redefining an “eco‑anthem”

Judging these submissions was no easy feat. The panel - folk singer Sam Lee, peace activist and Schumacher College co‑founder Satish Kumar, eco‑conscious singer‑songwriter Molly Astley, and urban ecologist Herbert Girardet - sifted through entries that spanned genres and continents.

“It quickly became clear that the definition of an eco‑anthem is wonderfully varied,” Girardet reflects. “Some songs were punchy and punky, others soft and lyrical. But every single one carried a deep reverence for Earth - and a desire to bridge the growing disconnect between humanity and the natural world.”

For Kumar, the competition was more than music. “These songs celebrate the beauty and magnanimity of Earth,” he says. “They’ve been a source of inspiration and comfort to me. I hope they inspire us to come together to help protect our planet.”

Join Yasmin Dahnoun in conversation with co‑founder Lizzie Ogle and vocalist Joy Dilá as they explore how the group’s sound is at once spiritual, political, and profoundly empowering.

Supporting artists beyond the competition

In addition, royalties from all streaming and sales will be split 50/50 with the artists, ensuring continued support for their work and livelihoods beyond the competition itself.

The music industry is one of the largest cultural forces on the planet, with the power to shape values, inspire action, and influence dreams. Over the past two decades, Artist Project Earth has released five albums, raising funds to support nearly 400 ecological initiatives worldwide.

Now, through this eco-anthem competition, the organisation is charting a new path: commissioning songs that celebrate nature’s wonders, highlight the impacts of consumerism on ecosystems, and draw attention to the many crises facing countries in the Global South.

“Our home planet needs help like never before,” added Girardet. “But there is still hope. These songs carry that hope.”

Your support

Wherever we live, the impacts of climate change, habitat destruction, and pollution are undeniable, but so is our collective power to respond. Artist Project Earth partners with musicians worldwide to raise funds for communities on the frontlines of the climate emergency and to back projects that are helping restore our fragile planet. We also champion artists creating transformative music and visual art.
