RESONANCE FM – CLIMATE RADIO

ORIGINAL DATE OF PUBLICATION: NOVEMBER 2, 2012

The award-winning arts radio station Resonance FM begins a new series of programmes on climate change from campaigning journalist Phil England.

Resonance FM will produce 12 new monthly programmes designed to inform, enrage and inspire people to take action. England said: “From tar sands to Arctic drilling, and from fracking to biofuels, we will be tackling the key issues in conversations with experts and activists in a strategic way which allows listeners to become actively involved.”

The project builds on the acclaimed work that England has been producing for the station since 2003, consolidating its reputation as a source of high-quality information that offers a platform to the most authoritative and pioneering voices.

Besides broadcasting these programmes in central London and streaming them worldwide on the internet, we will also make them available free of charge to progressive community radio stations in the UK and internationally for rebroadcast. In 2013 we have also teamed up with New Internationalist magazine who will promote the programmes as featured content on the magazine’s website.

By tapping into a unique countercultural audience of 2 million listeners, we aim to help tip the balance in favour of action to drive a rapid transition to a clean, low-carbon society.

The programmes will be archived at: www.climateradio.org

This is a living example of what radio can do, in the most chaotic and important circumstances. I don’t know what awards are out there, but this series deserves to win something. Alex Smith, host and producer, Radio Ecoshock, Vancouver

A really valuable service, professionally done. Ben Brangwyn, co-founder, Transition Network

“Resonance FM is exceptionally grateful to Artists Project Earth for their continued support for this project. Climate Radio would not have been possible without it.”
